Instructions

  • Combine the heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, maple syrup, and salt in a medium saucepan.
  • Stir frequently over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is hot but not boiling.
  • Take the pan off the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Transfer the mixture to a large mixing bowl and chill for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  • When the mixture has chilled, pour it into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Add the chopped walnuts and fresh blueberries in the last few minutes of churning.
  • Transfer the ice cream to a freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
